Obituary

His life, His Legacy

Ret. and highly decorated Combat Engineer Thomas James McCune, known by his friends and family as “TJ”, was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 26th, 1986, to Betty and Mark McCune.

Shortly after High School, Tom decided that he wanted to take up his patriotic duties and serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. Ironically and symbolically, Thomas left for boot camp on September 11th, 2008. As a Combat Engineer, Thomas was directly responsible for detecting and avoiding minefields and leading his fellow soldiers safely to their destination through two deployment tours in Iraq. Thomas was honorably retired from serving his country on June 28th, 2012. Upon retiring from service, Thomas left Texas to return back to Ohio, to be closer to his family.

Thomas was family oriented, and always kept his family and loved ones at the core of his priorities. While spending time with his family and friends, Thomas shared many passions which defined his fun and outgoing spirit such as golfing, fishing, camping, music, food, animals, nature and sports.

Thomas will forever be remembered for his sense of humor and contagious laugh. He had the ability to change the mood of an entire room with his jokes and positive energy. He was also very talented and skilled in anything he truly turned his focus to. He was currently working as a member for the Laborers Local 860 and was in the process of becoming a Police Officer by enrolling in the Police Academy.

We have lost a beautiful soul but our loss is Heaven’s gain. He will be truly missed but in our hearts forever. God’s got you now, and through him you’ve got all of us.

He leaves to cherish his memories his parents Betty and Mark McCune; wife Jennifer (Rhyen and Kennedey), his siblings Shawn (Alyssa, nephews Leo and Finnegan), Desirae (nephew Tristan, niece Issabella), Heather (nieces Lexi, Kendal, and Chris), Raymond (nephew Kyle), uncle, cousin, friend, and brother to many more.
