She was born and raised in Cleveland with a strong Greek heritage from her late parents, Barbara and Steve Mekedis.
She was a much-loved teacher for many years, and a proud graduate of Euclid High School and Ohio University.

Doris will always be remembered by everyone she knew.
She loved her family deeply, and always made sure to let them know through cards, gifts and phone calls.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Howard; three children, Barbra (P. Ryan Parker), Howard (Amy), and Steven (Erin O'Reilly).
She was the loving yiayia (grandmother) of seven, including Jacob, Christina, and Luke Parker;
